My Mini Me Has Arrived…and He’s Almost as Beautiful as the Real Thing!
When the folks at Sculpteo offered to create a small statue of me using their cutting-edge 3D printing tech, how could I refuse? After all, there’s no downside to having a miniature version of yourself sitting on your desk–aside from the occasional feeling that you’re being judged by a far smaller and wiser version of yourself. Paranoid delusions aside, I couldn’t have been more excited to see what Sculpteo’s 3D printer created. Normally, anyone going through this process would submit their photos (one straight-on of your face, the other a profile shot) to Sculpteo, and then get to see what the statue would look like before it’s actually created; being a bit more daring, I opted for a surprise and simply waited for my statue to arrive. Click after the jump to say hello to my little friend…

Look at him…even at just under 3″ tall, he oozes confidence, joy and inner strength. Okay, perhaps that’s a bit much; but he’s darn cute! Believe it or not, when you pull back a bit (and see it in person) the likeness is even stronger; but for the sake of the article, I didn’t want to pull back too far and have you miss any of the detail. As for the real me? Here it is–SPOILER ALERT!! Those of you that would rather read my articles with your own image of what I actually look like, please jump to the next paragraph..

There you go. Again, the resemblance is much stronger in person, but Sculpteo’s software and hardware do a great job of rendering your statues pretty accurately–flaws and all. I opted for the 2.7″ statue, ($74.90) but there’s also a 3.9″ version ($129.90) for those of you that demand a bit more presence. To give you an idea of the actual size of the smaller statue, I’ve included a pic that gives a bit of perspective…

Yes…tiny; but the cool part is that having statues of your entire family will barely take up any desk space! If you’ve ever wanted to give someone a unique gift, or even give yourself a great conversation piece, getting a figure made by the folks at Sculpteo is the gift that keeps on giving…and quietly judging.
