A New Feature Here at YTR: Juan Upgrades His Desktop

Just giving you guys and gals a sneak peak at a new semi-regular feature I’ll be writing for YTR.

If you had a chance to read over my review of the Nvidia GTX 560 Ti, you might’ve gotten the sense that I rather enjoyed throwing some new gear into my home desktop. If you did get that impression, then you are absolutely correct, because I loved it.

My home workstation is a bit overdue for some upgrades, and as I go through the process of updating various components I’m going to chronicle my experiences here on the blog.  A tech diary if you will…

The first thing I needed to take a look at wasn’t even a component in my computer, but the case my computer was in. If you recall, the GTX 560 BARELY fit in my old desktop case. It was a little embarrassing how cluttered my tower had gotten. Here’s what it looked like if you’d forgotten…
Inside my computer case, taking a look at the Nvidia GTX 560 Ti... It's only a nine inch card, but it's maxing out the space in my standard ATX case. Cabling is kind of a mess at the moment...

Well our good friends over at NZXT took pity on me, and sent over a Phantom case, power supply, and a Sentry LXE LCD touch screen fan control system! I’m really looking forward to testing this case out, to see if it’ll help my system not only run cooler, but quieter as well.

My first couple of posts about upgrades will detail my experiences migrating my current computer over to this new case. Hopefully those of you who are also interested in upgrading or building your own systems will get some benefit out of my mis-adventures! Stay tuned…
