Android App of the Week – Make Some Fancy Widgets with Minimalistic Text
This is one of the coolest finds I’ve discovered yet while reviewing Android apps.
Minimalistic Text isn’t so much an app or widget as much as it is a widget creator, allowing you to make a variety of different widgets for your home screens.
There are PLENTY of great widgets out there, so what’s the hook?
All of the info in each widget is displayed via text.
This creates a really simple clean modern look for a home screen.
You have full control over widget size, layout, font size and color, and you can even customize what action happens when you touch the widget. Currently widgets can be created for Time, Weather, Date, Battery, or any combo of those settings. You can also create static text boxes that link to other apps or shortcuts on your phone.
Some of the customization options can be a little confusing, especially how apps are saved and restored; font sizes are also a little hit or miss until you get used to the settings. Once you figure your way around though, this is a fantastic way to personalize a phone, and one that’s pretty unique.
It’s a totally home grown effort, so there’s no “paid” version of the app, but there is a donate option, so if you like it, throw the developer a buck. It’s worth it.
