Android App of the Week: Plants vs Zombies
How could it not be the app of the week?
We’ve been waiting FOR EVER for this game to come to Android.
Other tower defense games have come and gone, but there’s just something magical about killing zombies with adorable cartoon plant weaponry.
It was the Amazon free app of the day on Tuesday, but even if you can’t get it for free anymore, its still one of the best mobile games you can play today.
I present: Plants vs Zombies!
Game play is simple enough.
Zombies trudge onto your lawn from the right hand side of the screen. You have a collection of plants that help you defend your lawn.
The zombies can eat through your plants if you don’t have enough firepower to stop them, and if they make it past your yard, the zombies will walk into your house and eat your brains.
A variety of new zombie villains keeps game play interesting (as opposed to just throwing more of the same zombies at you), presenting you with ever increasing challenges, and fun boss battles. Getting new plant weapons to use keeps you feeling like you’re making progress. In all, a fantastic “cast” of characters.
It’s family friendly tower defense at it’s finest, and is one of the most addictive games you can play.
If there’s a complaint, the difficulty can ramp pretty quickly in the middle levels. The pool at night + fog levels are really a grind for me. Also, I would’ve appreciated some kind of free play for levels you’ve already beaten, but you don’t get that until you’ve beaten the whole campaign mode first.
Go pick it up folks! It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for!
