Breffo Spiderpodium: Our Review
One of the most common and frustrating aspects of working here at YourTechReport.com is the all too frequent thought; “Oh man, I wish I’d thought of that.” While we’ve all had those moments from time to time, when you’re constantly exposed to beautifully designed and executed examples of truly innovative ideas that solve the same problems you’ve faced all too often (without success), it’s impossible to not start feeling just bit, well, frustrated.
Recently, I had another of those ‘frustrating moments’ while taking a look at the latest disarmingly simple but incredibly innovative “cool tool” from the people at Breffo… their new “Spiderpodium” – an elegantly designed and imaginative device accessory that actually makes many of your other gadgets (everything from mp3 players to GPS devices to smart-phones) more usable, useful and valuable to you. Join us, as we take a quick look at the Breffo Spiderpodium – an amazingly simple invention that we think you’ll soon find almost impossible to do without.
“What is this thing?”
That’s a good question… and the same one my 6 year old daughter asked after I got the Breffo Spiderpodium home. As sometimes happens with the simplest devices, coming up with a reasonably coherent answer proved surprisingly difficult. After a couple of failed attempts, I decided to just show her, and in less than a minute she not only got it… but used it in a way I hadn’t thought of (and then went on to beat my high-score on Angry Birds!).
So, fresh from that rather humiliating experience, I find myself sitting here trying to write a simple description of the Breffo Spiderpodium only to wish I could just hand it to you… because, truthfully, you’d “get it” and be off using it in a lot less time then it will take you to read about it. However, as it’s extremely unlikely I can invite you all over to the house, here’s my quick take…
Arriving in a simple and relatively understated package, the Breffo Spiderpodium looks more like a kid’s toy than an elegantly conceived accessory destined to make virtually every one of your handheld devices more useful and usable. The light weight, eight-legged, rubber coated “gadget grip and travel dock” (available in both black and white) is ready to use right out of the package. In fact, the Spiderpodium is so simple it requires no instructions, as its uses and configurations are only limited by your needs and imagination (all that being true, the simple diagrams on the back of the packaging did help to jumpstart my imagination and proved especially helpful as I began to think of more and more ways to put the Spiderpodium to use).
Over the next several days I found myself using the Breffo Spiderpodium more and more often. Initially, it served as a simple but effective charging/synching stand for my iPod Touch and phones. Then, needing to do a little bit of photography, the Spiderpodium proved to be the perfect “third” hand… acting as both a rock-solid and adaptable “holder” of not just my camera and Flip-Video HD video recorder, but some gear and props as well. Then things got really interesting… first, I manipulated the Spiderpodium into a handy in-car device holder – allowing me to not only find a secure place for my GPS Sauna, but later, also allowed the kids to anchor my iPod Touch in the back to watch a couple of episodes of their favorite series. Finally, I lent it a friend who used it to anchor his new iPhone 4S on his daily bike ride and record his mini-adventure for his entire family. The flexibility and adaptability of the Spiderpodium never let us down… and we kept finding new ways to put it to work.
It’s also worth noting that configuring and re-configuring the Spiderpodium was not only quick and easy, but the device proved its worth over and over… seamlessly transforming from location to location, device to device in less time than it takes to describe it.
Wrapping it up
While I know we all love the incredible technology and capabilities of our newest gadgets and gear, nothing captures my imagination more than truly innovative, useful and above all, elegantly simple designs. After just a couple of days with the Breffo Spiderpodium – at my desk, in my car, and on the go, I find myself constantly coming up with new ways to put it to work. In fact, after all that experimentation and use, my only complaint is, well, I think I need another one! With the holidays not all that far off, I can’t think of a better, more useful gift for your family and friends… or one they’ll be happier to receive. The Breffo Spiderpodium is just one of those amazing devices that you’ll never stop finding new uses for… a sure sign of its success, and the reason we can’t recommend the Breffo Spiderpodium highly enough. Retailing for only $19.99 (we found it for $12.99 online) be sure to check it, as well as Breffo’s complete line of innovative accessories.
