Believe it or not, the next great Windows platform is on its way. Unlike the jump from Vista to Windows 7, Windows 8 is a completely new design–and Microsoft is banking on some very mobile-friendly touches to bring its latest OS to the masses. Set for release in October of this year, it will hit shelves just three years after its predecessor, Windows 7–a long time in the software world. So, to tease the upcoming release, here’s a quick peak at the new comes the new desktop UI you have to look forward to, courtesy of our friends at Microsoft.
