Nintendo of America today announced that they have hired Duncan Orrell-Jones as the new senior vice-president of Network Business. The newly created position will require Orrell-Jones to spearhead the development and evolution of Nintendo of America’s strategy for the 3DS and Wii U. This marks a vested interest from Nintendo in expanding their online gaming and media presence, an area in which their critics have often accused them of lagging behind.
Speaking about Orrell Jones (who comes from a role as a senior VP at Disney Interactive Media Group), Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Amie said “Duncan Orrell-Jones brings knowledge and hands-on experience to Nintendo that will help us develop and implement long-term digital initiatives for our systems. By creating this new position we’re demonstrating our commitment to the expansion of our online business, and Duncan is the perfect person for the job.”
