Windows Server 2012 to Drop Home Server

With Windows 8 around the corner, we’re starting to learn more and more about the various versions that will be available (Microsoft loves multiple versions!) and what to expect. Today’s news is that Windows Server 2012 will do away with the “Windows Home Server” variety. The platform was not very popular in the first place, so its removal from the lineup is more than expected. Taking its place will be Windows Server 2012 Essentials, offering both media server and small business services in one small package. No word yet on pricing, but hopefully it will be in line with what most small businesses can afford. Stay tuned…
