Marshall has been stepping up their game recently in the arena of consumer audio, delivering on some fantastic mid-range gear packaged up in retro-stylish fashion.
Surprisingly for the Marshall Minor headphones, Big M has partnered up with Zound Industries to deliver a very interesting set of headphones.
UrbanEars is a VERY modern Scandinavian design company, so does the marriage of retro + modern work?

Having just returned from a family trip to San Diego, I’m here to tell you: Having fun can be expensive. And I’m not just talking about leaving town; even taking your family of 4 to a single Baseball game quickly pushes past the $200 mark–and that’s not even including souvenirs…or expensive seats! So leave it to your friends at YourTechReport.com to find you some great summer values–and in true “Gadgets You May Have Missed” fashion, this summer value has been hiding in plain sight and comes from our friends at Nintendo… +Continue Reading
Yes…I’m aware that my title is a bit of an oxymoron. I’m also aware that as my family increases in size, it gets increasingly difficult to enjoy my home theater the way nature intended: late at night, in my family room, with my surround sound system blaring. And while I might miss the days of putting in my favorite Blu-Ray or DVD anytime I wanted, it’s nothing a great pair of headsets couldn’t fix. Of course, in this new digital age, being tethered simply wouldn’t do–so my great pair of headsets had to be wireless; and when you start putting words together like “great, headset and wireless,” one company quickly comes to mind: Sennheiser. I’ve had great luck with Sennheiser products over the years, so when we talked to them about a great home theater headset that wouldn’t break the bank, they sent us the RS 170 Wireless Headphones–and we’ve been grateful ever since.

I just got back from my photo shoot with the Traxxas 1/16 Summit VXL, as well as a quick test run…and I wish you could see the smile on my face; because more than any specs, photos, or information I could give you, this smile will tell you everything you need to know about this fantastic RC truck.
After we posted our article on the Traxxas Slash back in December of last year, we received some great emails asking us for more RC car coverage; and us much as you all seemed to love the Slash (as do we), many of you were interested in finding a slightly smaller vehicle to add to your collection, that would still be a blast to drive. Thanks to our great relationship with Traxxas, we’re able to deliver just that. When our friend John Collins (marketing product manager for Traxxas) told us that he had “…something I was going to love,” he wasn’t kidding; but don’t just take my word for it–read on, and see why the 1/16 Summit VXL is the monster truck your whole family will love.

First… and I think it’s important to say right at the outset, we think the folks over at XtremeMac do a great job. In the past, we’ve used and tested a number of their products and have always found them to be well made, thoughtfully designed and very reasonably priced… all in all, in a world of tough competitors, their products have often stood out as among the better choices for both quality and value-minded shoppers. And while the new XtremeMac InCharge Duo is a well built and effective multi-device charger, it does suffer from a single design issue that may make it less than ideal for some users. +Continue Reading
Happy and frustrated. Two words that you don’t often see together… but when a friend asked for my initial take on the Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray Disc / DVD Player, that was the only answer that came to mind. Now, I’ll admit that working here at YourTechReport.com has allowed me to sample loads of the latest tech – many of which have pegged my internal “have-to-have-now-o-meter;” but after spending the last week getting to know the Samsung BD-C6500, and experiencing the excellent quality and robust feature-set offered by this reasonably priced player first hand, the bar has been raised to an entirely new level – hence the “Happy” assessment I mentioned.
But sadly, there’s the ‘frustrated’ side to cover as well – and here I’ll admit to a little of what I like to call ‘practical irrationalism.’ Like a lot of people (maybe you as well), I’ve spent the last several years resisting the lure of the new Blu-ray technology. +Continue Reading
As you know, we love making our readers happy–and part of making you happy is reading your emails and giving you the type of coverage that you ask for. Thankfully, we’ve received many emails over the past few months requesting coverage of a category that’s very close to my heart: Radio Control vehicles. I started building and running kits over 25 years ago, and I’ve been a fan of RC ever since. I know there are many of you out there that are less familiar with the RC hobby; some folks may think RC vehicles are too complicated, while others may feel that price is a barrier. For those of you that have been on the fence about jumping into this great hobby, I have some good news: It’s far less complicated than you think, and the prices of RC vehicles today are very reasonable. Since this article is the first of many relating to RC, I thought we’d start with one of the most popular vehicles out there: The Traxxas Slash 4×4 Short-Course Racing Truck.

Well, since this isn’t a touch enabled tablet, you still may want an iPad or Galaxy Tab; but that shouldn’t dissuade you from picking up one of these wonderful little gadgets to add to your collection.
Before I go into detail on this gorgeous picture frame by Parrot, it’s probably best that you get a little insight into who I am. I’m that guy who thinks he knows everything about gadgets when in reality, more than anything, I love owning things that are pretty and shiny–and also happen to be functional. And if they make my life easier, amazing!
This is a great way to describe my experience reviewing the Grande Specchio digital picture frame, by renowned designer Martin Szekely: A high-tech mirror/digital picture frame that, thanks to it’s wireless connectivity and Android OS, also keeps you up do date with all of your online content and social networking. At first glance, the Apple-like, foam-lined box in which it’s delivered is a good start; the style isn’t quite a-la-Jobs, but still clean and classy (the quick answer is, yes, I’m a Mac fanboy). Pop the top and you’re greeted with a quizzical face staring staring back at you; once you realize that mug in the mirror-finished frame is you, it’s time to move on to the goods. +Continue Reading
We’re very lucky here at YourTechReport. Not only do we get to write about the gadgets we know and love for our readers, we actually get to spend a good deal of time testing many of the gadgets we write about; this allows us to share our point of view based on an actual user’s experience. We’ve been using IDAPT’s desktop charging solutions for quite some time now and they’ve become such a part of our daily routine, using them has pretty much become second nature. IDAPT’s concept is a simple one: Remove desktop clutter caused by multiple chargers and their wires by giving users a single desktop device to charge their favorite gadgets. Well, that’s great in theory…but since everyone has different gadgets that are near and dear to their hearts, (different model phones, portable gaming systems, etc.) how is one desktop charger supposed to please everyone? Simple: Interchangeable charging tips. +Continue Reading
I’ve always been a fan of Blackberry’s products. From their first generation pager-style two way messenger, all the way through to the current Bold lineup, RIM is sure thing when it comes to hardcore email and communications use. Somewhat overshadowed by the emerging SmartPhones, Blackberry still stands tall with the most recent incarnation of the Blackberry Bold.
A true workhorse, the Bold remains consistent in many domains. Nearly identical in size and dimensions to the Tour, the Bold’s signature keyboard is hard to beat. Not only are a the raised edges a pleasure to touch, but the overall feel of typing on a Bold really gives the impression of superiority. Fans will notice that the new Bold 9650 is slightly heavier than its low-cost counterparts–but that adds to the charm of what is the RIM Flagship device. Let me put it this way: If I drop the Bold on the ground I will not be panicking wondering where I can get a cracked screen replaced! +Continue Reading
Being a gadget site, you’ll often hear us throw around terms like “must have” and “the one gadget you can’t live without.” We can’t help ourselves; we see certain devices or pieces of tech and can’t wait to share them with our readers–it’s what we do. But as hard as this is to admit, at the end of the day, they’re just “things.” Whether it’s your car getting hit in the parking lot or the screen cracking on your new iPhone, it may inconvenience you and cost you money, but most things can be repaired or replaced.
I bring this up because we sometimes put so much attention and importance on things that are completely replaceable, we sometimes forget about the things that are not. Of course our loved ones are at the top of this list, but what about more subtle things….like our memories; memories that come in the form of pictures, audio and video? How about intellectual properties such as business documents or your senior thesis? We live in a time when some of the most important things in our lives are now stored digitally; it’s made our lives much easier but at the same time it’s made us much more vulnerable. For this very reason, Carbonite may be one of the best purchases you’ll ever make. +Continue Reading
