So this is crazy exciting, and honestly, something I never thought I’d see.
The Epic has proven to be difficult to create good custom ROM’s for. It’s the only member of the original Galaxy S family to have both WiMAX and a hardware keyboard.
Thankfully, intrepid coders working on the Cyanogen project have graced us with an incredible experimental Alpha build of Android 4.0. Check out the video! I especially like the part where my old Epic 4G beats a Galaxy Nexus in booting to the home screen…
For those of you interested in taking the plunge (and mind you this is still VERY experimental), you can find more info (and links to support the project) on the CM Epic 4G blog.

iOS charging docks disguise themselves as many things–and this one truly stands out because it’s cleverly disguised as a book. At first glance you wouldn’t even know that it was a charging dock, let alone when a phone is actually docked. Other book designs are available for your customizing pleasure created by Etsy. Get yours in your favorite style for just $55 USD.
I’m not entirely sure how much a 30-second ad now costs during the SuperBowl–but I am fairly sure it’s in the millions; so I’d imagine that a 90-second ad for the Galaxy Note must be a hefty investment–especially in the 4th quarter of a game that should be close. Pre-orders for the Note begin on that same day, and Samsung marketing is definitely taking advantage of the eyeballs. Check the full release after the jump. +Continue Reading

Mike Lazaridis (who has been a CEO of RIM since 1992) and co-CEO Jim Balsillie have officially stepped down, as former RIM COO Thorsten Heins is now the new head of the embattled company. Once the go-to choice for businesses looking for mobile email devices, RIM has since seen its market share drastically reduced by the success of both iOS and Android devices; and while RIM’s Playbook was universally acknowledged as a great piece of hardware, its lack of adoption and “not-ready-for-prime-time” software proved to be too little too late. Though things may not look too promising at the moment, perhaps this change of leadership will be enough to get RIM going in the right direction–and as a Blackberry fan and former user, I truly hope it is.
